How To Enable and Disable Run Command

ENABLING AND DISABLING RUN COMMAND

Sometimes you are in the situation that you cannot find your run command at the start menu. After looking at the properties you'll find your self irritate because you can't find it. Well sometimes administrators hide the run command or even disabling it for their own protection. You just have to ask him first to let him allowed you. If your in this kind of situation here are some useful method to enable it again. 

Method 1: Using the console registry tool
·         Click Start, Run and type this command exactly as given below: (better - Copy and paste)
REG add HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System /v DisableCMD /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f




Method 2: Edit the registry directly
·         Open Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) and navigate to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System]
·         In the right-pane, double-click DisableCMD and set it's data to 0
 


Method 3: Using Group Policy Editor in Windows XP Professional.
·         Click Start, Run, type gpedit.msc and click OK.
·         Navigate to User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ System
·         Double-click the Prevent access to the command prompt


Method 4: Manual Solution
·         Open My Computer –> C drive –> Windows –> System32 –> Locate gpedit.msc file and run it.
·         While you have opened Group Policy see in the left pane and in the User Configuration Expand Administrative Templates and select Start Menu and Taskbar now in the right pane locate Remove Run Menu from Start Menu and double click it.
·         Select Disabled in the properties dialogue and press apply then OK



If all of these doesn't work, you have no choice but to contact your administrator. But hope it works too!
